Er. Ansuman Chakraborty: Pioneering GIS Innovation and Social Welfare Initiatives
Er. Ansuman Chakraborty, often regarded as a symbol of perseverance and resilience, has dedicated his life to both professional excellence and community service. Inspired by the philosophy of Rabindranath Tagore—“Where the head is held high, and where there is no fear, my Father has let my Country awake”—he embodies the spirit of determination, striving to instill in younger generations the art of survival with dignity and courage.
Chakraborty completed his Master’s Degree in Geography from Visva Bharati University, Santiniketan, followed by an M.Sc. in Geoinformatics from Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, Ranchi in 2011. He further enhanced his credentials with an Executive MBA from the Institute of Management and Marketing (IMM), Delhi, in 2016. His academic journey reflects a deep commitment to blending traditional geographic studies with cutting-edge geoinformatics and management practices.
His professional career began in 2011 as a Junior Research Fellow under the Rajiv Gandhi National Drinking Water Mission (Phase II) at BIT, Mesra. In 2012, he served as Assistant Professor (Guest Faculty) at the Department of Geoinformatics, Centre for Land Resource Management, Brambe, Ranchi, and subsequently as a Lecturer at North Eastern Hill University, Department of Geography, until January 2013. These early roles provided him with critical experience in research, teaching, and applied geospatial technologies.
In 2013, Chakraborty became the first professional to introduce and operationalize large-scale Remote Sensing, Geographical Information System (GIS), Survey Engineering, and IT services in the private sector of Arunachal Pradesh through his affiliation with M/s Arunachal GIS Info Solutions, Itanagar. Following the death of his mother, Late Archana Chakraborty, in December 2013, he returned to West Bengal to continue her legacy by leading M/s Prantik Care – The Earth.
In collaboration with his father, he established M/s PCTEGIS in 2016. Today, the organization manages more than 80 consultancy projects across GIS, geoinformatics, and related fields, providing employment to over 50 professionals. Under his leadership, PCTEGIS has become a hub of technological innovation, delivering practical geospatial solutions to both governmental and private sector clients. This extensive portfolio of projects highlights his exceptional ability to oversee complex operations while maintaining high standards of quality and client satisfaction.
Chakraborty is equally committed to social welfare. In honor of his mother’s legacy, he oversees annual initiatives such as PCTE-Kanyasree and PCTE-Yuvashree, supporting education and skill development for young girls and youth. The organization also conducts programs like Mayer Dewa Mota Kapor and Annakut for underprivileged communities, and distributes blankets, sewing machines, and saplings through the Sneher Porosh, Chinmoyee, and Prokiti Bondhu schemes. Additionally, talented yet underprivileged athletes and cultural practitioners benefit from the Youbon scheme, which provides financial assistance for equipment and training. Every year, the Sanaj Bandhu Award recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to society across various fields.
Through his combined efforts in technology, education, and social welfare, Chakraborty exemplifies a holistic approach to leadership. He seamlessly integrates professional expertise with compassion and social responsibility, leaving a lasting impact on both the geoinformatics sector and the communities he serves. By managing over 80 consultancy projects and initiating meaningful social programs, his work continues to inspire professionals and youth alike, reinforcing the values of innovation, dedication, and public service.
