Born and educated in Kashmir, he completed his schooling at the prestigious Tyndale Biscoe School and matriculated in 1976. A natural sportsman, he excelled in hockey, cricket, volleyball, and squash, while golf remained his lifelong passion. Fuelled by a love for both academics and athletics, he went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from the Regional Engineering College (Kashmir), graduating in 1984. The same year, he embarked on his professional journey with the Jammu & Kashmir Project Construction Corporation Ltd. (JKPCC) as a Deputy Manager, setting the stage for a remarkable career that would span nearly four decades.
From the outset, he demonstrated an unwavering commitment to quality and innovation. JKPCC, a semi-government organization tasked with shaping critical infrastructure across Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh, provided a challenging yet rewarding environment for his talents. Over the years, his technical expertise and ability to manage large teams enabled him to rise steadily through the organization’s ranks. In 2018, he achieved the pinnacle of his career when he was appointed Managing Director of JKPCC, overseeing a workforce of approximately 11,000 employees. Under his stewardship, the corporation strengthened its reputation for delivering high-quality construction projects that support regional development and connectivity.
Throughout his career, he earned widespread recognition for contributions that went beyond state borders. Early in his professional life, he collaborated with Japan’s renowned Obayashi Corporation on the construction of the Nizamuddin Bridge in Delhi, a project that deepened his understanding of international engineering standards and practices. Later, he extended his expertise to the global arena by serving as a Construction Manager for the Dubai Metro, one of the world’s most ambitious urban transport projects. These international assignments not only enhanced his technical capabilities but also provided valuable insights into cross-cultural project management and advanced engineering techniques.
Back in Jammu and Kashmir, he continued to apply these experiences to elevate JKPCC’s performance. As Managing Director, he spearheaded numerous high-impact projects that improved public infrastructure, strengthened regional economies, and enhanced the quality of life for local communities. His leadership was marked by a balance of strategic planning, hands-on problem-solving, and an unwavering focus on safety and efficiency. In recognition of these achievements, he was honored by multiple Chief Ministers of Jammu and Kashmir and received commendations from the Governor for outstanding service to the state’s development initiatives.

A lifelong sports enthusiast, he continued to nurture his interest in golf, viewing the sport as a means of discipline and mental focus that paralleled his professional life.
