Dr. Prabhat Jaiswal, currently serving as Executive Manager at NTPC Ltd., represents a rare blend of scientific excellence, environmental commitment, and community engagement. With over 15 years of experience in India’s leading power generation sector, he has built a distinguished career marked by research innovation, operational leadership, and a deep-rooted passion for sustainability.
Born in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, he pursued his early academic journey with a strong inclination toward science, completing his Master’s degree in Chemistry from Gorakhpur University. Initially aspiring for a career in civil services, he moved to Delhi to prepare for competitive examinations. During this phase, he successfully qualified for both GATE and CSIR, achievements that redirected his path toward advanced scientific research.
He began his doctoral journey at IIT Mumbai; however, due to unforeseen circumstances, he transitioned to IIT Delhi in 2007 to continue his PhD studies. While pursuing his research, he was selected as a chemist at NTPC Ltd. in 2009. Despite entering a prestigious public sector role, his passion for research remained unwavering. This led him to further pursue a PhD in Environmental Science from IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, where his work focused on developing low-cost wastewater treatment technologies.
His research contributions have been widely recognized, with publications in top-tier Q1 journals and the filing of three patents. His work reflects a commitment to addressing critical environmental challenges through innovative and practical solutions, particularly in the area of sustainable water management.
At NTPC Ltd., a Maharatna Public Sector Undertaking, he has played a pivotal role in strengthening environmental and chemical management systems. Over the years, he has developed strong managerial capabilities and has successfully led key operational functions. During his tenure at NTPC Auraiya, where he headed the Chemistry and Environment section, he was honored with the prestigious Power Excel Award in recognition of his outstanding performance and leadership.
In addition to his core responsibilities, he is a certified ISO auditor and a 5S internal auditor, reflecting his expertise in quality management and process optimization. His contributions have consistently aligned with organizational goals of efficiency, compliance, and sustainability.
Beyond his professional achievements, he is deeply committed to environmental conservation and community awareness. He has actively conducted training programs in villages and schools, focusing on environmental protection and natural resource conservation. Notably, during his nine-year tenure at NTPC Auraiya, he played a significant role in the plantation of approximately 1.3 lakh trees, contributing meaningfully to ecological restoration and climate resilience.
