Dr. S. Shantha Kumar, a 50-year-old environmentalist, entrepreneur, social activist, and trainer from Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, has emerged as a dynamic force in advancing sustainability, community development, and skill empowerment. Coming from an agricultural background, he has successfully combined traditional knowledge with modern innovation, building a legacy that spans environmental conservation, industrial leadership, and social service.
Raised in a farming family, he developed an early connection with nature, which later shaped his lifelong commitment to environmental preservation. Today, he leads multiple ventures, including Shree Shakthi Industries, Shree Shakthi Electronics, Shree Shakthi Loomz, and the Shree Shakthi Environmental Center. Each of these enterprises reflects his integrated vision of economic development aligned with ecological responsibility.
A cornerstone of his environmental efforts is the Shree Shakthi Environmental Center, a 22-acre eco-tourism and environmental training facility. Home to more than 18,000 trees and over 250 species, the center serves as both a biodiversity hub and a learning platform. It attracts students, researchers, and environmental enthusiasts, offering hands-on exposure to sustainable practices and ecological conservation.
As an environmentalist, he has made a significant impact across Tamil Nadu by planting more than 315,000 saplings.
