Shilpi Saxena Bhatnagar, Founder of Neev Coaching Academy (NCA) – Foundation for a Better Tomorrow, is steadily emerging as a respected name in the field of academic mentoring and mathematics education. An MBA, dual graduate and dual postgraduate, she also holds a Diploma in Software Engineering, has qualified CTET, and is preparing to pursue a Ph.D. Her journey reflects a strong belief in financial independence and self-reliance—values she embraced long before they became widely discussed in mainstream discourse.
Raised in a middle-class family with a businessman father and a government-employed mother, she grew up understanding how aspirations are often shaped by financial realities. Nearly two decades ago, while awaiting her Class 12 results, her mother encouraged her to begin home tuitions for junior students. Starting with three neighbourhood children and earning ₹3,000 per month, she experienced the pride of financial independence for the first time. What began as a modest necessity would later evolve into a lifelong calling.
Her professional journey extended beyond education in the early years. She worked with reputed private organisations including BigShoeBazaar.com, MapMyIndia, Amadeus India Pvt. Ltd., Matrix Cellular, Serco, and NIIT Ltd., gaining diverse corporate exposure. These roles strengthened her adaptability, communication skills, and understanding of organisational dynamics, shaping her professional outlook.
Her return to teaching came after she left her corporate career to care for her young child. Driven by an inability to remain idle and a deep-rooted belief in self-reliance, she resumed home tutoring. Managing travel with a one-year-old child was demanding, yet she remained committed. When the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted livelihoods nationwide, she swiftly transitioned to online teaching, increasing her income significantly and demonstrating resilience in uncertain times.
A turning point came in January 2022, when her mother lost ₹7.5 lakh to online fraud immediately after retirement. The emotional setback deeply affected the family. Determined to rebuild her strength, she joined a private institute as a Senior Mathematics Faculty. Transitioning from one-on-one tutoring to batch teaching required new strategies and classroom management skills. Through continuous self-improvement, she adapted successfully. When her first batch delivered exceptional results, the recognition from parents affirmed her renewed purpose.
To enhance her expertise, she revisited pedagogy in Mathematics and Science, cleared CTET with 96 percent in her first attempt, and completed international certifications for IB and IGCSE curricula. In her second academic session at the institute, she managed nearly 35 students across multiple batches. Recognising that tutors often serve as critical academic support systems, she emphasised rigorous concept clarity and structured practice.
She introduced guided night practice sessions to strengthen problem-solving skills—without charging additional fees. Her students consistently achieved average scores above 95 percent over three consecutive years, reflecting her disciplined approach and commitment.
Over time, her role evolved beyond academics into mentorship, career guidance, and counselling. When professional circumstances at the institute became unfavourable, she chose to step away. Encouraged by students and parents who valued her dedication, she founded Neev Coaching Academy within a week.
Supported unwaveringly by her family, including her husband Ravish and her extended household, she continues to build an institution grounded in discipline, trust, and excellence. For her, this milestone marks not a culmination but the beginning of a larger educational mission.
