Suhas Udhav Godse has emerged as a distinguished figure in Maharashtra’s social service landscape through his leadership of Matruseva Sevabhavi Sanstha, a registered public charitable trust dedicated to the care of elderly and disabled individuals. Founded in 2013 and registered under No. E-8140/Pune/2018, the organization operates a home for senior citizens and persons with disabilities, offering shelter, medical support, and emotional care to some of society’s most vulnerable members.
An alumnus of Tilak High School in Karad, a region shaped by the cultural and spiritual heritage of the Krishna and Koyna rivers, he was deeply influenced by values of compassion, discipline, and community service from an early age. These formative principles later became the foundation of his professional and humanitarian journey. After completing his nursing education in Sangli, he began his medical career in reputed healthcare institutions, steadily building expertise and a reputation for dedication.
Over the years, he served in prominent hospitals, including Poona Hospital in 1984, Sahyadri Hospital, Yashshree Hospital in 2006, and All India Institute of Medical Sciences in 2009. His tenure in these institutions reflected a strong commitment to patient care, clinical excellence, and ethical medical practice. Colleagues recall his compassionate approach toward patients and his ability to balance technical proficiency with emotional sensitivity—qualities that would later define his social initiatives.
In 2013, motivated by a growing awareness of the challenges faced by abandoned elderly citizens and persons with disabilities, he founded Matruseva Old Age Home. What began modestly with just two disabled residents gradually expanded into a comprehensive care facility serving hundreds of individuals over the years. The institution provides not only accommodation and healthcare support but also dignity, companionship, and a renewed sense of belonging to residents who were previously neglected or marginalized.
Under his stewardship, the organization has evolved into a model of structured humanitarian service. The home emphasizes holistic care, combining medical supervision with psychological support and community engagement. By creating a safe and respectful environment, he has ensured that residents experience not merely shelter but a genuine sense of family. The steady growth of the institution reflects both community trust and sustained operational discipline.
His contributions have been widely acknowledged through numerous awards and recognitions. He has received an Honorary Doctorate from California University and more than 250 accolades for his social service. Among these distinctions are the Morya Gosavi Jeevan Gaurav Puraskar, the Ideal of Maharashtra Award, the Dalit Seva Sangh Award in Goa, and a Life Achievement Award presented in Delhi. These honors underscore the tangible impact of his work in advancing social welfare and inclusive care.
Behind his public achievements stands the steadfast support of his family. His wife, known for her educational background and active encouragement, along with his daughter Sanskruti, has played an important role in strengthening and sustaining the mission. Their involvement reflects the collaborative spirit that underpins the organization’s continued expansion.
Today, his life and work symbolize the integration of medical professionalism with humanitarian commitment. Through sustained dedication, he has transformed personal conviction into institutional impact, offering comfort and dignity to those often overlooked. His journey stands as a compelling example of how healthcare expertise, when guided by empathy and purpose, can extend far beyond hospital walls to reshape lives and communities.
